Brazos Valley Interpreters for the Deaf (BVID) is a local chapter of the Texas Society of Interpreters of the Deaf (TSID) . BVID was established to serve interpreters working in and around Brazos Valley .
Sherri Roberts is the current President of BVID as well as one of BVID’s charter members. She has been a member of TSID since the 90’s, and has served on the TSID Board as BVID Chapter Representative continuously since BVID’s inception. Sherri enjoys sharing her love of interpreting with those entering the profession. She has a Deaf heart and strives to improve interpreting services in the Bryan/College Station area where she owns and operates the local agency, SLIS, LLC. Sherri has been interpreting since 1986 and holds mutiple interpreting credentials, including RID CI & CT as well as BEI Master, Court and Medical. When not interpreting Sherri enjoys spending time with her husband, Kent, and her dog Bella.
Stephanie Garner has been interpreting in the Brazos Valley for 24 years in community, medical and post-secondary settings as an independent contractor. She has been an officer for BVID since its inception and is currently serving as Treasurer. Currently, she is employed full time as Parent Trainer for Bryan ISD in the Special Education Department.
Kathy Sellers is a graduate of MCC in Waco where she earned her A.A.S. Degree in Interpreting . Soon after she earned her Level 1 Certification and recently her Basic Certification . She has worked in the K-12 setting since 2000 and is currently working at Bryan ISD (BVRDSPD). She is an independent Contractor in community and post-secondary settings since 2008. She has been a member of TSID since 2000, and is a member of RID. In her experience with TSID she has served as the Co-Chair and Chair of the Mentorship Committee. She is currently serving as a TSID Trust fund Trustee. Kathy has been a member of BVID since 2008 and is currently serving as Secretary/Webmaster . Kathy also serves of the board of Texas Hands and Voices as Secretary and embraces her passion and experience as the mother of 2 Deaf/HH children of her own .Her career is her Passion but her most beloved titles of all is being called Wife, Mom, Mimi and Friend.
Dannette Lewis-Ross began her career at Texas School for the Deaf in Austin, where she launched her immersion into Deaf Culture and education in the 1980’s. Working as state and nationally certified interpreter for 25 + years, her experience has expanded to medical, mental health and court interpreting. She had the opportunity to work in the early trials of video relay services and in professional development for 2 decades. She serves on the BVID board as the Parliamentarian and currently living in Brenham, Tx and raising a talented 16 year old daughter. She spends her time between the relaxation of rural and the fast pace of city life. Dannette is pursuing a Master’s of Science in medical health care interpreting at Rochester Institute of Technology in New York.
